Corpus Contribution

The Bhojan Daata Scheme:

The Mandal has had a Bhojan Daata Scheme for some time now. The scheme operates in two ways: a Rs. 3,500 (US$75) donation ensures that all the Hospital's in-patients receive one of their meals free of cost on the day chosen by the donor whose donation is highlighted by notices placed throughout the Hospital; A Rs.35,000 (US$ 750) donation provides a free meal on the chosen day every year thereafter. Each year the donation would be recognized through prominent notices

Corpus Contribution for treatment of indigent patients:

Each year the Mandal provides free and subsidized treatment costing Rs. 100 lakhs (US$ 210,000) or roughly 30 percent of the cost of all treatment. This treatment is central to the Mandal's mission, but it results in a substantial financial burden. The Mandal is seeking donations to fund such treatment which ranges from Rs. 5-10,000 (US$ 105-210) for non-surgical patients and from Rs. 10-20,000 (US$ 210-420) for surgical patients.

The Mandal's Cancer Awareness, Education and Early Detection Project has created the need for adequate facilities to treat patients identified by the project. There is a need to build a corpus fund to finance treatment for those patients who cannot afford it on their own. The estimated cost of treating a single cancer patient is Rs. 20,000 (US$ 420).

A Rs. 2 lakh (US $4,200) donation to the corpus would allow the Hospital to treat two non-surgical patients or one surgical or cancer patient free of cost each year. Donors will receive an annual report listing the patients helped through their contributions.

Paying for the Poor of Your Village:

The Mandal is establishing a corpus fund that would be used to meet the treatment costs of patients from the donor's village. The contributions will not only help the Hospital but will ensure that the village's poor will receive improved health care. Based on the current treatment costs, a Rs. 2 lakh (US$ 4,200) donation is requested. At the end of the year, each donor will receive a list of the person(s) who have been treated.

A Corpus Fund for the AD Gorwala Blood Bank:

The Hospital's state-of-the-art blood bank is named after the late Shri AD Gorwala, one of India's first ICS officers and a friend and mentor of the late Dr. HM Patel. Many patients and their families who need blood are very poor and unable to meet the cost. Because they are anemic, they are also unable to donate blood. The Mandal has a corpus fund to meet these costs, which now stands at Rs. 10 lakhs (US$ 21,000).

Contributing to treatment cost involving sophisticated equipment:

The Hospital makes sophisticated equipment available for treatment of patients including ventilators, sonographs, mammographs, CT Scan, and cardiac ambulance. One day's treatment on a ventilator costs Rs. 800 - and the normal treatment runs to several days; a sonogram costs Rs. 200. To meet the cost of treating poor patients using this equipment, the Mandal has started an Equipment Fund. Contributions to the Equipment Fund will help ensure that poorer patients receive this treatment free of cost.
